Mercury Rising

Year Released: 1998
Main Stars: Bruce Willis, Alec Baldwin, some kid.
Last watched: May 2011
Number Watches: 2.5

Bruce Willis has lips that tighten like a cat’s arsehole. In this film it shows. It’s just about all he does. Alec Baldwin is sinister as frak. Brilliant. The music sounds like a James Bond movie and is out of place here.

Plot is a good enough concept but I don’t get a good vibe from the kid doing the autism acting, he doesn’t do more than act so I can’t get into that. Staring at the ceiling and talking slowly in third person was probably the direction he was given but it is so put on it starts to suck.

Do I like it? Not really, but I want to. Alec is great and his part of the sub plot reminds me of Enemy of the State but this is a poor second best. The chase of it all could have been better and Bruce could have had more help as he struggles to keep the one-guy-against-the-world syndrome interesting. His little flash backs are stupid looking too. It goes without saying that the computer parts of the film have too many beeps and clicky keyboards as well as an hilarious attempt at hacking.

Keep DVD?
No.
Watch if on TV?
Not any more. It doesn’t hold up enough, too much crap.
Snog, Marry, Avoid?
Avoid.
