A bit Dick Tracy and a bit Batman but it’s not as good as either. Much, much too serious and slow.

I’m sure it’s close to the comic action and probably looks really accurate but it’s too plodding and spends a lot of effort showing you the dark brooding of Alec and his weird eyes. Reminds me of Big Trouble in Little China as well but that had humour and was meant to be a piss-take.

Great sets and wonderful lighting as well as sumptuously decadent architecture and interiors. Music useful but not amazing. Acting does a job but is obviously secondary to the look of the movie. I’m not sure Alec was the best choice for the role or perhaps a more interesting side-kick or baddie? Tim tries his best but it’s not enough.

Of all the sinister comic-book films, this is not the one I would choose to watch again since it’s a bit of a slog to get through.

Conclusion is that this is rubbish.
