“Nice to see you again, Dutch.”
“I ain’t got time to bleed.”

Look, don’t fight me on this, I think Arnie can act and here he shows it, when he gets the chance between the effects and the dramatic music score. He’s not going to be a good choice for Hamlet but when the movie fits, he does the biz and here he pulls off another iconic performance. Would it have been as good with someone else? Don’t think so. Mr Berenger or Stallone would have been sloppy and samey but with the steady camera work and subtle action – yes, I said subtle, at least until they all die – Arnie’s startled-but-macho look is perfect.

Sometimes stuff is put together in a long-lasting way and Predator will go on being just as good as it started for many years to come. It’s not got depth, no massive thought involved and doesn’t seem to have pretentions. You know what you’re in for and what you get is good fun. You have to love it when they shred the forest and miss everything!

Ignore the follow-ups, get the best, get the first one.

Keep DVD?
Think so. It’s like a cuddly toy you remember from childhood – you dont want to throw it away but it’s really just taking up space until you feel like a cuddle. On occasion you just need to grab hold of Predator and squeeze.
Watch if on TV?
Yes, but not everytime.
Snog, Marry, Avoid?
After applying black and green face paint then abseilling behind enemy lines, finally look into the invisible eyes of an alien called Snog.

About Simon Trail

There has long been a tradition that a knight will show a crest and / or motto of his family. I shall endeavour to provide such a distinguishing and immediately descriptive thingy over my management of this site. Please be patient. Or Doctor if you're David Tennent.
