Love it. Can’t think of anyone else who does though.

For some reason there is a massive dislike of this one throughout my colleagues and I can only think that this is due to it not being a recognised hero like Iron Man or Spiderman. Anyway, they’re wrong, I’m right.

Will puts in the performance he’s got form for – kinda innocent guy, hussled along by events and has to look a bit dazed every so often but ultimately the pillar of trust and integrity we all need to rely on to do the right thing. Spot on here. Charlize is nice too. She’s not my favourite actress as her style is very American, bit like Will sometimes, but here she has some wistful moments and suits the tempo of comic book films. Jason does European acting well and it’s refreshing to see someone underplay in a Hollywood movie so big up to him for that.

By the way: European – dorky with quirks and some insecurities. American – solid stares, deep moods, hard faces with hard tears escaping from chiselled features. Basically a bit posy.

The big budget is clear in the sets and effects which are all very realistic. There’s really nothing to complain about unless you find it all a touch dull, maybe even pointless. Set up for a series? Too much time spent on throwing people around? But I’m okay with that since this is the first super hero I’ve seen who has every power needed and is introduced as a drunk. That’s my kinda super – damaged! Shame they had to make him overcome it all and come to terms with his ‘feeeeelings.’

So, a fun movie for me, not to everyone’s taste.

ADDENDUM: Watched it again Nov 2014. Still love it!

Keep DVD?
I would. It’s a rainy day movie.
Watch if on TV?
Yes.
Snog, Marry, Avoid?
Snog. I don’t think he’s the marrying type.
