Having started so well with Superman and Batman, DC superheroes are being overpowered by Marvel at the cinema at the moment so it’s interesting to see the Warner Bros / DC treatment of comic book movies.

Green Lantern is a bit light on content and seems rushing towards establishing a lot about the green guy as possible, maybe due to the defo sequel that’s in the pipeline and the pressure for comic to screen conversions. There’s a nearly unstoppable hero in the middle and to give him something to fight, the plot insists on aliens with more powers than you can possibly imagine. Yadda yadda.

However, the opposition hasn’t been thought through very much as it seems to be a bit of a stretch sometimes and the alien baddy appears to be massively powerful world crusher one moment and then annoyed by what seems like tiny stuff the next. Apart from this kind of inconsistency the overall movie is quite enjoyable. Ryan’s charm and boyishness work quite well and the three or four other guys there are suitable enough.

A bit of fun but not one you’ll need to see again.
