Leather, fit girl, witches and a small packet of steam-punk thrown in.

Nicely done for what it is but needs more oomph to the acting. It’s as if there was a damper put on the scenes that kept them from being really good fun. I’m going to put that down to the direction as the sets, costumes, weapons and moody acting all appeared to fit the bill. Certain scenes were too dark, others were just really enclosed and felt inevitably linear. Imagine a theme park ride with lots of effects and then go through it a hundred times. We’ve seen all this and there wasn’t a whoosh factor making me recoil with eyes wide open.

If I was being cynical (who, me?) I’d say it was a failed pilot script for a TV series. Hey, maybe it succeeded and it’s in production as I write? As a TV show I’d probably watch the first season then get a bit bored.
Keep DVD?

No.

Watch if on TV?

Perhaps but I’m a bit of a dafty for gothic and monsters.

Snog, Marry, Avoid?

More Avoid than anything. But perhaps a small, scabby-faced smooch on the broom stick.

About Simon Trail

There has long been a tradition that a knight will show a crest and / or motto of his family. I shall endeavour to provide such a distinguishing and immediately descriptive thingy over my management of this site. Please be patient. Or Doctor if you're David Tennent.
