A lot of hype. A lot of Marvel heroes these days and this is a bunch led by Mr All American so I was indifferent before we went. The good thing was that we had free tickets due to a sound problem on Dr Who cinema showing last year. With freebies, it’s easier to sit back and enjoy from the start.
Not disappointed. Good start although a little weird but that gets explained near the end. Lots of raccoon action and aliens and stuff but the script has bite and the actors seem to have a great relationship with each other so much so that the lines are delivered with a lot of sarcastic fun. Each character is very well defined too so there isn’t much missing from a dramatic perspective. Sexy sci-fi gadgets and breaking of stereotypical set-plays make this a touch above the rest of the comic-films and with a snappy direction there isn’t a whole lot more that this could have done to impress me.
Like it. Want to see it again and also to see the follow up. Also, for all those comic-geeks out there, it’s worth staying to the end of the credits. Not a big thing but nice touch and maybe a setup for the rest of what will probably be a three or four film series.
One word about Karen Gillan: Go-on-yersel-lassie!
(hyphenated works as one word, so there.)
