This is going to sound odd but I think this is a cute little romance. The monsters are kindof incidental, just a bit of colourful background. The main guys are both awkward and charming and the performances from the support and extras is phenomenal. It’s a believable, low budget world where the effects are hardly noticable, even when they’re staring you in the face.
I’m going to watch this again, it’s really well done and doesn’t throw things at you all the time, you know? Like blockbusters seem to need to bash you over the head with dramatics and explosions and intense emotional scenes, Monsters is a journey with a reason and some way points that all make sense rather than act as fillers.
Extras: Huge insight into the making of this movie and the directorial skill of putting it all together along with the computer effects. Interviews with cast, crew are open and complete. Nice package.
Watch if on TV?
Snog, Marry, Avoid?
Snog with passion and possible even wed! With CGI guests, natch.
