“Sex and murder”

Don’t want to call this a run-of-the-mill revenge story but that’s exactly what it is and without Lucy it would be nothing. Lucy is amazing. She’s one of those actors who do it so effortlessly that you don’t even notice – she just IS that character and you accept it. Consummate, I think the word is but not someone I would put in the mix with look-at-me-I’m-a-star people. She’s got a professional attitude about her. She’s also just so damn good looking without being a make-up diva.

Having said that, I don’t normally think of her emotional range much since she’s usually the same type – impressive single girl with cuddly soft side but also attitude. Here, from the start, we get a good view of vulnerability, real-life reactions to events and most everything from petrified-snot-out-the-nose to comin-at-cha-bitch. Nice.

Shame the film is crap. It’s just another run-of-the-mill revenge story with a very small purse and some dodgy, even amateur direction. The main guys are good; James is solidly evil, Michael plays his part with heaps of depth and Carla also rises above the mess. There are moments when the cast are adding quality that the movie doesn’t deserve but overall this is more like a spectacle than fun.

Lucy kept me watching. Anyone else and I’d have nodded off.

Extras: Mobisodes. These are small making of bits, maybe 10 mins long each. Interesting but not much, especially for a blu ray. Really nothing else and no point spending extra cash.

Keep DVD?

Kinda no. She’s good but the film isn’t.
Watch if on TV?
Kinda yes but then ultimately no. She’s good but the film isn’t.
Snog, Marry, Avoid?
Sorry, Lucy. Unless you are a massive horror/vampire geek, this doesn’t rate high. She good but the film isn’t. Avoid.
