Dragon Blade. Nothing much to do with the movie but it doesn’t really matter as there isn’t much great about the rest of it anyway.

Not quite true, I guess, as the fight sequences and Jackie’s moments of drama are so much better than the surrounding ramshackle of dust and large sets. The costumes are OTT, sets are OTT, concept is a bit OTT but the music is really dull. This is a film for kids and a select audience who like big-set, strange historical numbers. There’s a very slight historical interest but a quick internet search get’s you past that in minutes.

The action is not the technical work of earlier Jackie so there’s a lot of crowd fighting but three or four scenes of sword fights are mesmerising.

However. It’s not enough. Direction and script to blame here and there isn’t enough of anything else so my advice is to wait until the kids are a bit older and grab a few of these kind of film for evening-fillers. I wouldn’t run to it for any other reason.
